Rations for the April event

Postby Benjamin McGee on Sun Feb 22, 2009 10:44 pm

Hello,

What canned rations are acceptable for the April event? Is there a modern substitute of bully beef? Any help on victuals would be appreciated.

Look for Hormel Corned Beef in a tapered can. Most places still sell them with the turn key. You can replace the label with period labels. You can also buy a normal size can of beef stew and put a Machinoche label on it.

Keep in mind that we will be getting rations in the trenches. Oatmeal on Saturday morning and a stew in the afternoon as well as tea. It will probably cost about $3 per person for the weekend.

You will want to get blanks as well, but you can get those on site usually. Beyond that and rations, it is also a little early, but we will have to figure out tent arrangements...we can figure that out next month.

Oh FYI that time line event in Jamestown is actually the weekend of March 20-22 (not the 14-15 as I said before).
