I don't know if anyone remembers the Paul McCartney video to "Pipes of Peace" but it takes place during the Christmas truce of 1914. Sir Paul plays both a Brit and a German soldier, check it out:

That was actually a really well done video. They props and uniforms didn't look half bad either. I guess when you have money, you can get anything done.

does anyone know what inspired him to make the video?
Did he have a relative in the Great War?
Odds would favor it.
I think it may have been more of a political statement that "all war is a useless waste of human life because in the end, our differences, that caused the war, get resolved at the peace table."
I know u-tube has an interview with him asking about the making of the video but all they discuss is "the music."!!!!!!!!!! ARGH!! So, I wasted 5 mintues of my life listening to Sir Paul babble about being a vegitarian, then about how bad meat is for you etc etc.
