Newville Prep Weekend Sept 25-27

Postby SirJames on Wed Sep 02, 2009 11:26 pm

Hey Gentlemen,

We are a few short months away from the November Newville event, and with a little preparation, we can make it one of the best events to date. In anticipation, we are planning a work weekend at the site on Sept 25-27, 2009. There is plenty to be done so if you can make it it would really help the GWA and the unit.

Here is what we have planned:

Pull out the existing covered area of the trench.
Have the backhoe come in and dig out out our trenches.
Start rebuilding a small dugout in the place of the old one. (One we can actually lock up and store gear!)
Mow/Weed wack and clear brush.
Help paint the cannon.

There is tons of work to do, and we won't necessarily finish it all that weekend, but we should be able to get a great start before the event.

If you can help, please let me know and RSVP. So far the following can make it from the Guards:

Jim Higginbottom
Steve Walsh
Neil Hobbins

Obviously, some people are too far away to make it for a work party, so if any of you can make a small monetary contribution, it would be great help as well. It is going to be fairly expensive to buy the wood, supplies, and pay for the backhoe. As of right now a most of the expense is divided among just a few members, so any little bit would help.

It ought to be a great weekend to attend. Several other units will also be present, so it should make for an eventful weekend, with opportunity to hang around with good friends.

Please RSVP if you are a Yes, No, or Maybe, and if you can make any monetary contribution how much. That way we can make sure we are ready to go when Sept 25-27 rolls around!

Take Care,

Jim
