Jamestown Settlement

Postby Corporal Walsh on Tue Jan 08, 2008 9:43 pm

Per Dave Hughes:

When: March 15 and 16, 2008
Where: Jamestown Settlement
What: Military History Through the Ages
Who: Are you good to go?
Why: Hopefully we can get as many as possible as a good warm up for Newville in April, three weeks thereafter. Practice a bit of drill for the passers by and maybe even recuit a few.
We are set to portray "The Guards in the 20th Century."
Come see some Great War Jerries "out of the trenches."

I can usually do it as a day trip.
6 hours to drive down and 6 hours to drive back.

Unfortunately I am stuck with a Saturday class this semester from 9am-6pm every weekend. I know I won't be able to make the event on Saturday, but I would love to get up there on Sunday.

Also, I am about 35 minutes away from Jamestown, so if anyone wants a place to crash aside from a tent. They are more than welcome to stay here.

that is a far drive from Detroit. I have heard alot about the event and would love to go, but I don't think it is going to happen for me this year.

I am definitely going to make it to this event on Sunday. Anyone else planning on going?

I'm planning on attending.
I just don't know which day, yet.
Jamestown is the same weekend that I usually walk in the St Patricks day Parade here in Philly. My kids are into Irish dancing. I get sucked into walking behind the dancers with the other Dad's to make sure that none of the dancer's wander off. (You'd be amazed at all the stupid things that can happen during a parade. "I just wanted to say 'Hi' to Jimmy" or " I gotta go to the bathroom real bad." "Are we done, yet." When do we see Santa?" "How come Santa doesn't have any green reindeer on St. Patrick's day?" The list goes on.)

Once that date is established, then I plan to drive down the night before the Jamestown Event and crash at Jim's place.
Example: If the St. Pat's Parade is Saturday, then I'll head to Jim's Saturday night and do the Jamestown Event on Sunday.

Anyone else out there looking to blow out the cobwebs on the Newville Spring Event?

Sounds good Steve. I am thinking about bringing a camera and taking photos of each of the positions of drill so we can post the manual of arms on the webpage to keep everyone on the ball for drill. Let me know when you figure out the details Steve.

I have always wanted to go to that event, but it is a bit far from Detroit. Have fun everyone.
