Great war militaria SD Tunic

Great war militaria SD Tunic

Looks like WPG is out of my size SD coats. Is it true that great war military makes a decent coat? They have one 42' in stock though the price is a bit scary (still cheaper that a decent federal frock coat) I'm normally not in a hurry but I would like to make the April GWA event.

I think Alex described Great War Militaria pretty well. GWM makes some of the best tunics out there. They used to be the only game in town, which I think explains their high prices. I doubt you would be disappointed with one, but get one if you want to get theirs, not because everyone else is sold out.

I think we could find an old loaner tunic you could wear in April if you can't get one by then. The decision is up to you.

I hope this helps somewhat.

Cheers!

I just got off the phone with Jerry Lee of WPG and he says he can deliver by April.

Hey guys

Got my tunic and trowsers in the mail today, very impresseed with delivery time (9 days from the UAE!) Coat fits like is was tailored for me and trowsers are nice too. I'm glad I went with WPG. A quick question, how much will these items shrink? I typically never wash my kit as I like a nice "patina" however, sweat and rain are what I'm worried about. Any advice?

I haven't had any problems with shrinking with water etc, but I only dry clean the uniforms once every few years when they get too ripe. They have made it through rain storms and mud and seem to hold up alright.

If you want, to do a bit of fine tuning to the kit to look more the part of the Guardsman, you can pull out Jerry Lee's tags, and on our "Download" page you will find a tunic and trouser label. The tunic label has the size written on in pencil, and is glued inside the tunic opposite your right hand breast pocket. The trouser label is the same way but is glued on the outside of the rear left hip. Here are a few links that will help with the description.

Polish up the brass buttons and belt hooks, choose a Regiment to put on the proper shoulder titles, and you will be set to go!

Cheers!

Glad they fit, I haven't had any problems with mine changing sizes at all.

Hey,

The reason I asked about shrinkage is the fit of the tunic is so close (with a bulky sweater on) that I was a bit worried. I actually contemplated trading it back for a size 44. What do you guys think?

If it fits with a bulky sweater, you should be good. You will probably never wear anymore under it than a greyback and a cardigan of some sort. The call is yours though.

Here is a picture that shows you the fit. The would have been tailored by regimental tailors, but it would not be as tight fitting as lets say a Rev War Regimental.

You should be good whichever you choose. Polish the heck out of the buttons, mix up the blanco to put on your webbing and you will look really sharp!
