Just seeing if anyone is awake and breathing -- any thoughts on the November Event?

Hey Fellas,

Welcome back! It has been a busy summer for a lot of us!

I am planning on making the event. There has been some talk of rerunning some barbed wire in front of our lines. We were thinking about trying to run wire at night in three man wiring parties. You guys up for the challenge?

I would definitely do it at night with wiring parties instead of on Friday before the event. Much more authentic and it gives a realistic task to perform while under fire.

Barbed Wire at night

Postby Corporal Walsh on Thu Oct 02, 2008 3:35 pm

if we are to do it at night, let's do it right as you said.

think of things you will need to bring.
the ground is as hard as a rock.
- i recommend small heavey hammer and chizzle of some type.
- the hole needs to be 9 inches deep as a min. to hold a stake.
- washable camo face grease/paint (No Al Jolson "MAMMY" imitations needed!!!LOL)
- have LP dug in front of BW (barbed wire) to hid in when flares go off.

This is all i have.
Please add to it... and volenteer to bring something...
(I can bring a heavey hammer and spikes/chizzles)

Given the obnoxious shale, we could always put the stakes in the ground earlier and just run the wire at night. Thoughts?

How about this

Postby bograt1918 on Mon Oct 06, 2008 1:40 am

This kind of goes along with Steve's LP idea...

I've always wanted to stockpile about 20-30 empty sandbags in our trench on Friday...then sometime early Saturday a.m...maybe right after "Stand to" we send a 2-3 men rushing into no-man's land to take possession of a large shell-hole. Each one would carry 2 full sandbags (one in each arm) + the empties on their back.

Once they are in the shell-hole, they throw the six full ones up on the rim closest the Germans and then start digging and filling others...building a parapet up and the hole down.

Essentially, we take a shell-hole, begin to fortify it, and force the German to come knock us out of it.

If we could get smoke cover, we could rush a hole with an entire squad, dump 20 full sandbags, and leave 2-3 guys behind. This might be a faster and safer way if we could get smoke to cover the rush.

Im up for any type of dangerous/authentic/exhausting activity. Im loving these ideas being kicked around, esp the night action with grease/facepaint/burned cork or whatever. Since I dont have a cold this event, i wont be coughing giving away the position (sorry Corp!)

Speaking of crazy stuff to do, is anyone any good at drawing? Maybe one of you can make some drawings like the vet in the WWI Artist post!

Hey I hear you guys would like some smoke cover? One of our guys is a cop and gets his hands on all kinds of fun police/millitary smoke grenades and he will have several for the event. If you guys want smoke cover just ask the jocks beside you.
